Selecting The Correct Size Muzzle 

Prior to measuring, there are a few things you need to consider when sizing a muzzle for your dog: 

1. The muzzle CANNOT be LONGER than your dog's actual "nose length." If the muzzle is longer than your dog's nose length, the muzzle will be in the dog's line of vision. 

2. The muzzle's circumference MUST be LARGER than your dog's "nose circumference." We recommend between 1-3 inches (4-6cm) larger than your dog's measurement. If the muzzle is the exact same size as your dog's nose, the dog won't be able to pant. It's mouth won't be able to open. It is VERY important that you give your dog enough room to pant while wearing the muzzle.

Measuring your dog for a muzzle

Step 1: Measure the length of the snout.

Measure the dog's snout length. This should be from 1-2cm below the eyes to the tip of the nose This should be taken along the top of the dog's nose as shown below.

Step 2: Measure the circumference of the snout.

Measure the circumference of the snout as the widest point. This should be done again 1-2cm below the eyes, wrapped all the way around the snout with the mouth closed.

Step 3: Allow for pant room.  

You must allow for an extra 2-3cm on each side of the muzzle (4-6 cm total). This is so your dog can open their mouth to pant breathe and bark as needed.
