This is the Ultra Plus version as it is the highest quality and it is by far the most effective training collar
The prong training collar can be an extremely helpful training tool used correctly, we recommend that you seek professional advice on using one of these collars if you have not trained with one before.
The Herm Sprenger Company has been a leader in the dog training market with their high-quality training products for many years. Herm Sprenger uses only the best materials and prides itself on their high standards. K9 Pro is proud to carry a wide variety of Herm Sprenger collars.
The unique design in prong collars do not apply pressure to the dog’s trachea, making them a safe alternative to a slip collar, and much safer than allowing your dog to pull into a flat collar which can cause permanent damage to the dogs wind pipe. Instead a prong collar tightens, creating a pressure sensation that is instantly released once the dog “yields to the leash” or stops pulling.
How to choose the right size prong collar for your dog!
When choosing prong collars, we look at three things:
- The breed of dog
- The weight of your dog to choose the collar type - these first two factors determine the collar size (small medium or large prong collar)
- The neck circumference to determine if you need to add of remove links.
Please note for large collars – these are for GIANT BREEDS only!
These are suitable for dogs that are 60 plus kilos and have very thick necks, for breeds similar to German Shepherds and Rottweilers a Medium collar is almost always sufficient - you may just need extra links if the 59cm length is too short.
The function of the collar in in the link size and a large link in prongs is too much for most dogs.

Curogan is a copper-tin-alloy with a high copper portion and some additives which make the material strong - but without any nickel. Therefore, these chains avoid a discoloration of fair-haired dogs. Some dogs (less than 10%) do react on Curogan with a discoloration. Another advantage of Curogan is the fact that it is absolutely free of nickel. Often nickel can be responsible for allergic reactions of sensitive dogs and causes of some skin rashes. Herm Sprenger advises that the Curogan will NOT rust because it is a copper/tin alloy and does not contain any iron, and only iron can rust. Curogan will darken and tarnish when exposed to the outdoor environment.
Prong collars should NOT be used with a retractable (flexi) lead.
The life expectancy of this collar is endless!
Note: We recommend always using a back up collar with any prong collar for safety reasons. While these collars will not break, there is always the chance of the collar being fitted incorrectly.

Fantastic quality excellent for training gives clear communication to dog. Highly recommend
Hesitant, but had good results with a trainer. Worked on leash reactivity to other dogs and pulling with slip, martingale and harness with no progress. Recommended this size by trainer. Removed 4 links. Progress in last several local walks definitely feels forward. She loves to wear it, loves to impress me. Just loses herself when other dogs come close. I’m excited at what we can achieve once she learns most dogs are ok and I will handle the rest!
Excellent quality and a great tool.
We were introduced to these collars by our dog trainer. I was reluctant to try it at first, however our Blue Healer cross Border Collie was refusing to behave on lead despite months of intensive training. Once wearing this prong collar she immediately changed her behavior and started walking nicely on a loose lead. We were very impressed and decided immediately to buy our own collar.
Our dog shows no signs of discomfort or upset while wearing the collar under normal walking conditions. An occasional light tug on the lead is required as a reminder, however these are becoming less frequent.
In my opinion using these collars is far less cruel than having a misbehaving dog on a slip lead or flat collar.
Using this collar was like getting a dog upgrade to version 2.0.
